10/1/08 “Flying Solo” Pilots Available for Viewing on MyLifetime.com

This year, the New York Television Festival and Procter and Gamble Productions teamed up to offer outstanding female graduating seniors the opportunity to star in and help produce a reality television pilot about their lives after graduation.

Two talented storytellers were selected as the winners of the PGP-NYTVF Flying Solo Pilot Contest.
The pilots combine professionally produced third-person video footage with first-person footage taken by the subjects themselves for a more intimate and personal perspective on their lives and stories.

The NYTVF, PGP, and Lifetime Networks are proud to introduce Blaire Byhower and Hannah Friedman, the winners of the 2008 Flying Solo Pilot Contest.

Enjoy their stories as they spread their wings for the first time!

9/2/08 NYTVF unveils Production Day slate of events

On Sunday, September 14th, the NYTVF is partnering with a number of industry pros to present a day full of free events giving up-and-coming producers, writers, actors, and directors valuable guidance on how to take the next step in their careers. NYTVF Production Day begins at 10:30 AM and runs all afternoon.

Panels include everything a Web producer needs to know to launch his series, to a comprehensive look at breaking into daytime dramas, to top tips on writing scripts and sketch comedy from the experts.

8/13/08 NYTVF announces 36 Official Selections to the Independent Pilot Competition!

After receiving almost double the number of entries we got in 2007, the NYTVF has finally announced the 36 pilots that will screen in competition at the 2008 New York Television Festival. The pilots represent all genres of television and feature some of the best writing, directing, acting, and producing we have ever screened at the NYTVF.

We thank everyone who entered and congratulate those who will be featured for Festival audiences this September. We hope you will all come out to support the next wave of independent television creators and producers.

Schedules and single tickets for the free pilot screenings will be made available soon at the NYTVF Box Office. Independent Pilot Competition screenings will begin on Saturday, September 13th and run through Wednesday, September 17th.

7/15/08 NYTVF and the People's Choice Are Looking for TV's Best Spinoff Ideas

PCA Do you have a great idea for a spinoff series based on a favorite TV show from the past or present? If so, the NYTVF and the People's Choice want to hear it!
Enter the People's Choice Awards contest for the chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to be the official People's Choice Awards ambassador at the 2008 New York Television Festival. There, you will have the chance to rub elbows with television¹s elite and stand on the red carpet for star-studded network premieres. All you need to do is record a video of yourself pitching your idea for the next great TV spinoff. You can use shows, locales, and characters from any TV show, past or present for the basis of your idea. Be original and creative!

Video entries should be one minute or under. No copyrighted music or images may be used in your videos. Visit http://www.pcavote.com/pca/ for more details and to upload your pitch for the next great TV spinoff. Entries will be accepted starting July 21st and ending at 11:59 P.M. Eastern on August 3rd.

Three lucky finalists will have their pitches placed on the PCA Web site, where their community will vote for their favorite to determine a winner.

6/27/08 NYTVF teams up with Banff World TV Festival

BANFF The NYTVF has announced that the Banff World Television Festival has joined the TV Festival PassPort Program!
Now, NYTVF producers selected to participate in the 2008 Fellowship Program will have the opportunity to receive free passes to attend the 2009 BWTVF in Banff, Canada and an opportunity to showcase their work for attendees. As part of the exchange program, attendees of Banff's Master Class Program will receive Artist Passes to the 2008 NYTVF.

5/1/08 NYTVF and Fox Announce Comedy Script Contest!

Fox Logo Fox Broadcasting Company joined with the New York Television Festival (NYTVF) today to announce the launch of the FOX-NYTVF Comedy Script Contest. This contest invites aspiring television writers to enter their original comedy TV pilots for the opportunity to win $25,000 and a development deal with Fox Broadcasting Company.
The scripts must present an original idea for a potential half-hour comedy series. The opening date for script submissions is June 2nd, 2008.
